This Prestigious Institution was started in rented building of Gita Bhawan in Poonch with the name Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public School Poonch in 1982 in Cooperation with the then Principal of MHAC School Nagbani Jammu. Started with the Nursery class, the institution grew to secondary school and become the first choice of the locality. Unfortunately during earthquake destruction in 2005, Gita Bhawan building collapsed and after that the school was shifted to kanuyian village in own building which was under construction. Now the school is being run in own building at village kanuyian which is about 3km from poonch city. In 2013 the school was upgraded to senior secondary in science stream. Now this institution has well equipped class-rooms, Laboratories, Library, computer Lab and is still the first choice in locality for quality education as well as discipline.
